Features
Convenient, simple and economical.
Application
For all flat or evenly curved (concave and convex) surfaces.
Test principle
The disc-shaped gauge (Fig. 1) is rolled through the wet film. As it rolls, two knurled, concentric rims (1) run on the substrate, and the eccentric cam (2) picks up coating at the point where the distance between the rims and the cam equals the wet film thickness.

Design and function
The hardened, precision-ground stainless steel measuring disc is 50 mm in diameter and 11 mm thick. It has a freely rotating aluminium roller that lets the gauge roll across the surface.
There are 8 models with different measuring ranges.
The scale is engraved on one side of the disc.
Measuring procedure
Measurement 1: hold the gauge's guide roller between thumb and forefinger, place the gauge on the surface at its maximum reading, and roll it gently towards zero to find where the eccentric cam first touches the coating.
Measurement 2 (check): repeat as above but roll in the opposite direction to find the contact point. Average the two readings for an accurate thickness value.
