Sinotime's 318 Hardness Test Pencil is well established in the industry, and many leading companies have become more productive with it. Our job is to guarantee its quality. Here is what the 318 Hardness Test Pencil does and why it matters.
Modern manufacturing needs efficient test methods: fast, direct and precise, any time and anywhere.
This instrument is designed to measure the hardness of protective coatings. The hardness of paint films and plastic coatings can be measured and recorded precisely with the Model 318 Hardness Test Pencil, on flat or curved surfaces of any size.
The instrument is always ready to use. It fits in a pocket and can be used for all kinds of hardness tests.
Consistent hardness and coating quality keep production running smoothly, while deviations from the specified hardness lead to returns, production delays and complaints. Developed by Robert Bosch GmbH and made by Erichsen in Germany, the instrument is suitable for protective coatings and routine quality control, even during production.
The Model 318 Hardness Test Pencil gives engineers, inspectors and others a test instrument that meets the needs of smooth production.
The portable Model 318 is especially simple to use. Set the estimated or known spring force with the slide. Hold the instrument upright on the test surface and draw a 5–10 mm line at about 10 mm/s; the tip should leave a scratch that is only just visible. If the spring force is too high, the scratch is clearly visible; if it is too low, no scratch appears. Locking the slide lets you apply the required force, in newtons, every time.
The scale on the pencil covers three force ranges:
0–3 N (blue marking)
0–10 N (red marking)
0–20 N (yellow marking)
Each spring for a force range has a colour code matching its scale.
